On Tuesday June 6, Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, Vice President of the Dominican Republic, spoke on “Efforts to tackle multidimensional poverty in the Dominican Republic” at Latin American Centre of Oxford University.

Vice President Cedeño thanked Sabina Alkire, founder of OPHI, for the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge about the challenges facing Latin America in the fight against poverty and the creation of opportunities for progress for all citizens. She explained that, with OPHI, the Dominican Republic is developing the multidimensional poverty index, "an instrument that complements the GDP to better measure poverty and thus creates targeted actions to attack every cause of poverty and thus be more effective and efficient in public administration."
