Alkire contributes to OECD’s ‘Development Co-operation Report 2013: Ending Poverty’.

A chapter by OPHI Director Sabina Alkire on poverty measurement will appear in OECD’s forthcoming Development Co-operation Report (DCR), titled  ‘Development Co-operation Report 2013: Ending Poverty’.

The chapter considers a body of empirical evidence that has documented a surprising lack of linkages between economic growth and a reduction in multidimensional poverty. It then sets out a three-pronged programme for ‘getting to zero’ on multidimensional poverty, which involves improvements in both measurement and data collection.

The Development Co-operation Report (DCR) is the key annual reference document for analysis and statistics on trends in international development co-operation. This year, the DCR will explore what needs to be done to achieve rapid and sustainable progress in the global fight to end poverty.
