Poverty in IsDB Member Countries in the Face of Food Insecurities

IsDB-OPHI Briefs

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group and OPHI have partnered to publish a new series of briefs exploring multidimensional poverty across IsDB member countries.

This publication was jointly prepared by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) and OPHI. The numbers in this brief reveal that poverty and food insecurities are intertwined in IsDB member countries. Poorer IsDB member countries face higher food insecurity. More than half of the poor people in IsDB member countries are already facing undernourishment. Four in five people who are poor and undernourished live in rural areas. These numbers call for action that connects well-targeted poverty eradication and food security efforts to ensure people’s survival and enable them to flourish, today and tomorrow.
