Kim Samuel
Biography
Kim Samuel is a Research Fellow at OPHI, where she studies the relationship between social isolation and multidimensional poverty as well as the broader link between human belonging and wellbeing in the cosmos. Kim is the author of On Belonging: Finding Connection in an Age of Isolation (Abrams Press: September 2022) and was appointed the first-ever Fulbright Canada ambassador for diversity and social connectedness. Samuel is also a Visiting Research Fellow at Green Templeton College at the University of Oxford, where she particularly focuses on the health impacts of social isolation and on building reciprocal systems of care. She is the Founder and Chief Belonging Officer of the Samuel Centre for Social Connectedness, and an academic lecturer at institutions including Oxford, Harvard, and McGill universities.
