How to Use National MPIs as a Policy Tool: From Metrics to Policy

03 February 2025

This webinar launched “How to Use National MPIs as a Policy Tool: From Metrics to Policy,” a collaborative handbook by the United Nations Development Programme and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative which offers tips and recommendations for policy actors interested in introducing a national Multidimensional Poverty Index to guide evidence-based poverty reduction policies.

In an informative and practical exchange, the panelists discussed the handbook and expanded on the value of MPIs for coordinating multisectoral responses to poverty across government. They also shared details on the concrete steps they had taken to introduce and institutionalise a new statistical measure of poverty for guiding policy.
