Measuring the Effectiveness of Fiscal Policy in Multidimensional Poverty Reduction - OPHI Seminar

15 March 2023

The March 15th edition of our Multidimensional Poverty Seminar Series with the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Human Development Report Office (HDRO) covered "Counting and Accounting: Measuring the Effectiveness of Fiscal Policy in Multidimensional Poverty Reduction" and featured speaker Maria Emma Santos (OPHI and CONICET). The presentation proposed indicators of impact and spending effectiveness of fiscal interventions for multidimensional poverty reduction, bringing together CEQ’s fiscal incidence methodology with OPHI’s multidimensional poverty methodology, using an MPI with the 𝑀0 structure as the metric for evaluation.
