Channel Africa Radio: The 2024 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index report shows that 1.1 billion of people live in acute poverty

The United Nations Development Programme's 2024 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) report shows that 1.1 billion of 6.3 billion people live in acute multidimensional poverty, and over half of them are children.
The report has also found that there tend to be much higher levels of poverty in conflict-affected settings.
Channel Africa's Mabu Boloka spoke to the Human Development Report Office's Chief Statistician at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Yanchun Zhang and the Director of Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, Professor Sabina Alkire.
