The University of Oxford is an exempt charity for the purpose of charity legislation. As such, it has charitable status – albeit it is exempt from the requirement to register as a charity with the Charities Commission, and therefore does not have a registered Charity number. Information and resources for tax efficient giving schemes are given on the University of Oxford website. Gifts to the University of Oxford and OPHI are exempt of tax in the USA when channelled through Oxford North America or SOPHIA Oxford USA, a US non profit spin-out of OPHI and the University of Oxford.
