In a new Working Paper (pdf), Nicolai Suppa, OPHI Research Associate, compares monetary and multidimensional poverty in the German context. Although he does not find a clear-cut link between the two, he does find that both poverty measures agree on certain aspects, such as sociodemographic risk factors. He argues that the choice of poverty measure makes a big difference. Properly designed multidimensional poverty indices have the advantage of better reflecting human well-being.
