OPHI, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) are delighted to offer the third iteration of a free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on the topic Designing a Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)  which starts today.

For the first time the course is offered in Russian and Arabic, in addition to English, French, Spanish.

Launched in 2020 by OPHI and UNDP, this course is aimed at anyone with an interest in multidimensional poverty measurement, including students, academics, technicians and policymakers. It provides participants with a deep dive into how to design an MPI to capture the multiple simultaneous deprivations faced by people in poverty.

The 2022 edition also provides an expanded library of case studies outlining the uses of the Multidimensional Poverty Index for policy interventions in the context of COVID-19 recovery efforts.

The facilitated course ends on 29 April 2022.
