On 22 September, 2016, the Government of South Africa, on behalf of the Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network, will host a High-Level Side Event at the UN General Assembly in New York entitled “Measuring and Tackling Poverty in All its Dimensions”.  The Government of Seychelles and OPHI will partner in the event.  Policy makers from countries that have implemented MPIs will provide cutting-edge updates on how countries are using measures of multidimensional poverty to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. This includes reporting the global or national multidimensional poverty index (MPI) as indicator 1.2.2 and using the MPI as both a policy and governance tool to advance the SDGs and reduce poverty in all its dimensions.

This event will be held from 1.15PM to 2.30PM. It follows previous successful High-Level Side Events at the UN General Assembly in 2015, 2014 and 2013 and the UN Statistics Commission in 2016
