In February and March, OPHI Visiting Scholar Kim Samuel, launched her book On Belonging – Finding connection in an age of isolation with a series of UK events starting with a collaboration with The Big Lunch programme at the Eden Project in Cornwall, and including a high profile 'In Conversation' event with the Bishop of Trondheim, Father Erik Varden, in the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford.

Exploring the concept of belonging as a missing dimension of poverty, throughout the UK launch, Kim Samuel has been discussing how seclusion and increasing environmental degradation have people yearning for more than just material progress, personal freedom, and political stability. Her book reflects on humanity’s search for a deeper connection – the longing to belong.
