OPHI-HDCA Summer School 2009: Capability and Multidimensional Poverty
Co-organised by OPHI and the Human Development and Capability Association (HDCA)
Taught by: OPHI Director Sabina Alkire and OPHI Researchers and Colleagues.
The purpose of this intensive summer school was to provide a thorough conceptual and technical introduction to current literature and techniques of measuring and comparing capabilities, drawing on various techniques of multidimensional measurement and statistical analysis. The 2009 summer school attracted a large number of researchers and practitioners from Latin America, including members of the statistics office of Paraguay, the Planning Office of Bolivia, the Latin American Regional team of the UNDP and a team from the Inter American Development Bank. Other countries represented include Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, the Philippines, South Africa, Uruguay, Venezuela and a number of European countries. PowerPoint presentations, lecture videos, problem sets, exercises, and reading lists are available via the class links below.
