Multidimensional Impact Evaluation Workshop

About 30 researchers came together in Oxford in March 2018 to discuss how the Alkire-Foster Method can be used to evaluate the impact of social protection schemes. Organised by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), the Multidimensional Impact Evaluation Workshop took place at Green Templeton College on March 1-3, 2018. 

Participation was by invitation only, but the discussions and results were reported to the wider development community during and after the workshop, through OPHI’s website and social media channels. The papers presented were later published as OPHI working papers and in scientific journals.

 OPHI invited researchers from around the globe, in particular from developing countries, to present 14 papers and discuss their findings with colleagues. Papers addressed topics such as cash transfers, women’s entrepreneurship, migration, emergency housing and early childhood development, among others. 

OPHI Director Sabina Alkire opened the workshop, which concluded with a panel session exploring the policy implications of the research findings. The workshop was part of a grant funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID).
