Multidimensional deprivation among Italian youth
OPHI Seminar
Tuesday 04th March 2025
16:10 - 17:10 GMT
Meeting Room 2, Queen Elizabeth House, 3 Mansfield Road OX1 3TB
In recent decades, young individuals in Italy have faced increasing precariousness in their employment, fragmented career paths, prolonged transitions to adulthood, low social mobility, and growing inequalities. Given the unique challenges faced by this segment of the population, it is crucial to gain a comprehensive understanding of their current well-being and to track changes over time.
Multidimensional poverty metrics have been rarely applied to high-income countries despite the popularity that the Beyond GDP approach, which advocates for non-monetary measures of well-being, has reached in these nations. This seminar explores the multidimensional well-being deprivation of young people in Italy by applying the Alkire-Foster method.
