Professor Pattanaik is currently the Emeritus Professor at the Department of Economics at the University of California. He holds a Ph.D from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, India. His research interests include welfare economics and the theory of social choice; decision theory; measurement of deprivation and living standards; and development economics
