OPHI to Launch New Poverty Measure with the UNDP Human Development Report

OPHI will launch a new international measure of poverty with the UNDP Human Development Report at a special policy forum at the Commonwealth Club in London on 14 July and on the OPHI and UNDP HDRO websites. OPHI developed the measure, which will be featured in the 2010 UNDP Human Development Report, and used it to evaluate poverty in 104 developing nations worldwide. The policy forum will engage the media, development professionals and academics to discuss how the new instrument can better illuminate poor people’s lives and help to target development resources more effectively. Results of this first analysis of global multidimensional poverty will be made available on the OPHI website and at the event on 14 July.
