OPHI team at the Ultra Poverty Conference, Washington DC

OPHI researchers presented new work at a major International Conference on “The Economics of Ultra-poverty: Causes and Remedies” between 22-23 of March at George Washington University (GWU), U.S. Presentations included:

  • Sabina Alkire, OPHI Director, and Suman Seth, OPHI Research Officer presented on severe poverty and sub-national disparities (joint work with José Manuel Roche) and Sabina Alkire also presented on multiple deprivations and the missing dimensions of poverty data;
  • Mauricio Apablaza, OPHI Researcher, presented on chronic poverty in Chile;
  • José Manuel Roche, OPHI Research Officer, presented on changes over time in multidimensional poverty (joint work with Sabina Alkire and Suman Seth).

Finally, to conclude the conference, James Foster and Sabina Alkire talked about constructing the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index. Full conference agenda.
