New Video! Policy Seminar on WEAI

Women play a critical role in agriculture in developing countries, but they face major constraints that prevent them from contributing more to agricultural growth and poverty reduction. The Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI) is a composite measurement tool that shows women’s control over critical parts of their lives in the household, community, and economy.

Sabina Alkire, Director of the Oxford Poverty & Human Development Initiative (OPHI) of Oxford University presents the index in this IFPRI policy seminar along with Emily Hogue, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist, USAID’s Bureau for Food Security and Agnes Quisumbing, Senior Research Fellow in the Poverty, Health, & Nutrition Division of IFPRI.
