Indonesia’s Vice President highlights OPHI’s MPI in Special Address

His Excellency Dr. Boediono, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, delivered a Special Address at the University of Oxford on 30 October 2013, entitled ‘Transforming Indonesia: The Challenges of Good Governance and Economic Development’.

In the lecture co-hosted by the Global Economic Governance Programme and the Blavatnik School of Government, H.E. Dr. Boediono said that along with bureaucratic reform and anti-corruption efforts, poverty reduction was on the highest priority list of the current administration.

He noted that poverty had declined in Indonesia and said in his speech that: ‘The decline in poverty is also corroborated when we use other measures, such as the multidimensional poverty index – that is built using various indicators in health, education and well-being — developed by Sabina Alkire of this University.’
